Cabbage Kootu is the easiest side dish variety for the meals which is made with less time. It is made of cabbage , moong dal and coconut paste together. It is the healthiest dish with very minimum oil and full of cabbage and moong dal. This can also be had as a side dish for the roti . Lets look at the procedure of making it.


Preparation Time:10 mints| Cooking Time :  30 mints|Severs: 3




Cabbage - 1 cup ( finely chopped)

Moong Dal - 1/4 cup

Coconut - 1/3 cup

Green Chili - 1

Red Chili - 1

Cumin Seeds - 1 tbspn

Oil - 1 tbspn

Mustard seeds - 1tbspn

Curry leaves - 1 string


Procedure :


1. Wash the moong dal and pressure cook it for 3 whistles. Mash the dal well and keep it ready. Wash and chop the cabbage.


2. Add the coconut , green chili , red chili and cumin seeds to blender and make it a fine paste.Then in a pan cook the cabbage along with salt and turmeric until its soft. Then add the mashed moong dal.


3. Then mix well and add the grinded coconut paste . Allow to cook till raw smell goes. Then prepare tadka with mustard seeds and curry leaves and add to it.


Now the Kootu is ready to serve.


Notes :


You can make this kootu by adding vegetables of your choice or with mixed vegetables.
