Cabbage Moong dal Poriyal serves as a side dish to a main course meal of rice with sambar, rasam and yogurt . This is the poriyal made of cabbage, moong dal and coconut. This is easy one for daily cooking. It is good for the health and both the cabbage , moong dal reduces the ulcer problems. This goes best to even eat by mixing with rice. Lets look at the recipe.
Preparation Time:15 mints|Cooking Time:20 mints| Serves:2
Cabbage - 2 cups (chopped )
Moong Dal - 1/4 cup (cooked)
Coconut - 2tbspn
Salt - 1tbspn
Hing - as Required
Sambar Powder - 1 tbspn
Oil - 2tbspn
Mustard seeds - 1tbspn
Cumin seeds - 1tbspn
Curry Leaves - few
Coriander leaves - few
Water - as required
1.In a kadai add oil,cumin and mustard seeds. Allow it to pop then add r.chili and curry leaves. Then add the cabbage , salt,hing,sambar powder and mix well.
2. Cook for few mints until its soft. Once the cabbage is cooked then add the cooked moong dal mix well and cook for 5 mints. Add water if necessary.
3. Once all the water is evaporated and poriyal become dry add the grated coconut and turn off the flame. Mix well and keep in stove for two mints. Then Serve it with hot rice.
Now the cabbage moong dal poriyal is ready to serve.
My Notes :
1. If you like the flavors of onion, you can add few chopped onion before adding cabbage and cook till transparent.
