Kothamalli thuvayal is a type of chutney variety that is made of grinding fresh coriander leaves with urad dal and red chili. It can be had with plain rice along with ghee. And also it goes well with the idli,dosa and curd rice. This stays fresh for even many days by storing in refrigerator. This is my ready made mix available handy. It is useful during long journey or trip.
Preparation Time : 10mints|Cooking Time : 10 mints
Coriander leaves - 3 cups (cleaned and chopped roughly)
Sesame Oil - 2 tbspn
Salt - to taste
Red Chili - 7 nos
Jaggery - 1 tspn
Urad dal - 3 tbspn
Tamarind - 1 inch
1. Heat sesame oil in a nonstick pan and add urad dal. Then add the red chili and saute for a mint. Add the tamarind and cook till golden brown . Allow it to cool .
2. Grind it to coarse powder once cool down. Wash the coriander leaves dry in a paper towel and chop roughly. Then add it to blender along with salt. Grind it coarse paste without adding water. Then store in air tight container.
